The Socially Awkward Dreamer
Jean acts arrogant and rude, but inside he is rather insecure. He is obsessed with how he is seen in the public eye, trying to act "cool" and fit in. However, in most cases he comes off as cocky and this tends to drive everyone away. His temperament is volatile, and he is quick to turn an argument of words into an argument of fists. Despite this, he is incredibly kind to his friends (he only has one, so it's kind of sad) and once someone has gained his trust he is quick to stand up for them. He has an obscure obsession with Japanese culture, and loves Japanese food. He's also a really good cook (but no one knows that).
Jean is an artist and works as a designer for album covers, among other things. He also plays the guitar. He is pretty optimistic that his future will be better, but he doesn't realize that he needs to be true to himself before he can be happy.

Name: Unmei
Unmei is Jean's best friend (and only friend). Their personalities are complete opposites, but Unmei looks out for Jean whenever he ends up in some sort of trouble. Unmei is often asked why he's friends with Jean, why he puts up with the arrogant Sima. Unmei says that he can see who Jean really is, and that deep down Jean is actually a sweet guy who just wants some friends. With Unmei's help Jean has started coming out of his shell, and has become progressively less violent. |
Name: Dayu
Relation: Mate Dayu is gentle and calm and everything that Jean is not. Unmei, Jean's best friend, finds it funny how two complete opposites fit together so well. Dayu is sweet where Jean is brash, and looking at them one would not usually think that they would get along at all. But they do, and Jean would have it no other way. |
Name: Nova (Top Kit)
Relation: Daughter Jean and Nova get along swimmingly-- their personalities are much the same and although Jean would not call her a "Daddy's Girl" in the slightest, he has found himself to become a bit of an "Overly-proud Father". Nova reminds Jean a lot of himself when he was her age -- she's independent and can be a bit brattish at times, just like he was. He just hopes that she didn't inherit his insecurities as well. |
Name: Fay (Bottom Kit)
Relation: Child Fay is different, and Jean knows it. He tries to be supportive of them, but they're so different from anyone else Jean has ever known that it can be difficult at times. Unmei helped explain to him and helped him understand that Fay was not just his daughter, but also a son, and sometimes also neither. Jean trips up often enough -- accidentally calling Fay his "little girl" when they are presenting as male or non-binary, but he's starting to get used to it. He is glad that Fay inherited Dayu's patience and understanding, because gods does he know that they'll need it. |
