- ★ Rebellious ★ Tom-Boy ★ Arrogant ★ Sarcastic ★ Opinionated ★
Labret is all about being who she is and not what other's want her to be. She's rebellious, a trouble maker, and a bit of a prankster. This combination of traits often leaves her in bad or dangerous situations, but she's yet to be left in serious trouble. She prefers the company of boys over girls, and has no interest in fashion what-so-ever. She dresses how she wants, and doesn't care about what other's think of her. She can be rather cocky at times and is often an instigator of fights. She is loud and is usually the first to make her opinions known, and is not afraid to speak what's on her mind. Her sarcastic remarks and confrontational attitude has earned her a slew of enemies, but this does not bother Labret one bit.
Name: Lolita
Relationship: Mother Lolita and Labret get along fairly well, but Labret's rebellious attitude can sometimes put a strain on their relationship. However, Lolita is understanding of this because she sees herself in Labret. Despite this, Lolita can't help but worry that Labret's rebellious tendencies could one day get her in trouble. |
Name: Adam
Relationship: Father Labret is not sure about her relationship with Adam. To her, Adam is an anomaly. They do not get along great, nor do they often disagree or argue with each other. Adam absolutely confounds Labret. However, Adam does care for his daughter. Maybe he finds his daughter's confusion entertaining, or he isn't sure how to express himself to her? Only Adam knows. |
Name: Jason
Relationship: Older Bother Labret and Jason don't get along quite so swimmingly. Labret doesn't care for Jason's vanity and conceited attitude. She thinks Jason is rather stuck-up, and this often leads to arguments between the two siblings. The two prefer to keep their distance from each other, rather than to butt heads constantly. |
Name: Lillian
Relationship: Twin Sister Labret is closest with her twin sister, Lillian. They are both quite rebellious and they often team up to cause trouble. The twins are incredibly close and protective of each other, and stand up for each other in any situation. They are sometimes called the Devilish Duo. |
Name: Andromeda
Relationship: Grandmother Andromeda and Labret absolutely do not get along. Labret does not like the way that her grandmother treats her mother, Lolita. Andromeda is also a bit resentful of Labret's attitude and feels that Lolita is not raising her right. If Labret can avoid interacting with her grandmother in any way, she will. |
Name: Quinn
Relationship: Grandfather Labret doesn't dislike Quinn, but they aren't necessarily close either. Quinn is protective of his kits and grand-kits and Labret feels she doesn't need his protection, that she can take care of herself. Labret is closer to her grandfather than some of her other family members, but if possible she prefers to keep her distance from him. |
Name: Kegan
Relationship: Great Uncle Other than her twin sister, Labret gets along best with her great uncle Kegan. They are quite close, and she often tags along on his little misadventures. The two can create a great deal of havoc together, however Kegan is also protective of Labret. If he feels they are going to get in trouble for something they have done, he is quick to shoo her away so that she doesn't get any of the blame. |
Name: Tiana
Relationship: Great Aunt Normally Labret would not get along with someone like Tiana. However, Kegan loves Tiana unconditionally, and since Labret spends a lot of time with Kegan, she ends up spending a lot of time with Tiana as well. Over the years she has grown closer to Tiana, and now even enjoys her company. Labret is always excited to spend time with Tiana and Kegan. |
Name: Bode
Relationship: Great Uncle Labret is rather indifferent towards Bode. The two have only met a few times, and he didn't leave much of an impression on her. Labret figures, because Bode is closer to Andromeda than Tiana that the two of them probably would not get along well. Labret has no desire to get closer to this great uncle. |
Name: Blitz
Relationship: Great Unlce Labret chooses to keep her distance from Blitz. Like her father, Adam, Blitz confuses her, although for completely different reasons. Labret doesn't know what to make of the armored Sima. She is curious of the sword he carries and is always tempted to ask him to demonstrate his swordsmanship skills. But she never feels it's the right time to ask him, as they hardly ever see each other. |
Name: Gilder
Gilder and Labret ran into each other in a series of unusual events before they actually became friends. Although there is a significant age difference, this doesn't put a damper on their relationship. Labret is often the one who takes care of Gilder when he's passed out drunk or hungover (take care of is used lightly, as Labret feels that kicking him in the head is an effective cure for alcohol-induced migraines). The two have a strange camaraderie, and Gilder treats Labret almost like a daughter. |
Name: Keit
Labret met Keit through Gilder through an unusual circumstance, but they quickly became friends. Keit is a bartender at Gilder's most frequented haunt, and that's how the two males met and became friends. The three's usual hang out is Keit's apartment, this is also where Labret can usually find Gilder when he's suffering from a massive hangover. Which is often. They have made a tradition of making pancakes together while Gilder is passed or in serious agony on the couch. |
- Labret was still just a young kit when she first met Gilder. She and her sister had been playing a game of hide and seek in the park when she found herself lost. Labret was scared, but she didn’t let it show, putting on a brave face. It was already late in the day, and she knew that in just a short amount of time it would be dark out. The sun was already calling it quits for the day, painting the sky a wondrous golden-red hue.
Labret did linger on the beauty, more worried about how her twin sister was fairing. Surely she would have gone home to find someone to help? Maybe… All that Labret knew for sure was that she had no idea which way was home, surrounded only by trees.
She didn’t startle when she heard something fall from the tress behind her with a loud thunk. Nope, not at all… Okay, maybe just a little. But only just a little, and no, she was not crying. She just had gotten something in her eyes was all.
“Yo, there,” a voice rang out behind her, and against her instincts that were telling her to run, she turned around. The shadowy figure towered above her, and she could hardly make out their features. All she could tell was that it was another Sima, but not much else.
The figure approached, looking at her curiously, it’s head slightly tilted to the side. It kneeled down before Labret, close enough that she could make out their features. “You lost, hon?” the scarred Sima asked, his large hand landing a reassuring pat on her head. Labret nodded in response, still wary of the unknown Sima. “The name’s Gilder, sweetheart. What’s yours?”
“Labret,” she answered with a sniff, wiping away her unshed tears.
“Well Labret,” Gilder said, standing to his full height once again, “let’s see if we can get you un-lost.”
Gilder’s calming smile gave Labret some comfort and she nodded. To be honest, Labret had no clue of what to make of the male. He smelled faintly of booze and blood, and that worried her a great deal. But at the same time, she had no other way to escape from the forest.
“It’ll be faster this way” the older Sima said, lifting Labret’s small frame onto his shoulders before taking off at a decent-paced run. At first Labret resisted, but she quickly realized it was futile to fight against Gilder’s strength.
The two soon found themselves at a path worn through the forest, following it back to the park.
“Labret?!” the young Sima hear a voice call out in the distance, filled with worry. She could see the figures of Sima’s up ahead. They seemed to be searching for something, or someone.
“Labret!?” this time it was a female voice that Labret recognized as her mother.
“Labi!!!” Only her sister Lillian called her that. So Lillian had gone home to find help after all. Labret smiled greatly as Gilder placed her on the ground. The second her feet touched the earth she was off and running towards her family.
“Mom! Dad! Lilli!” Labret called out, and no those were not tears of joy running from her eyes. She had simply gotten some dust in them again.
Labret was quickly embraced by her family that had been terribly worried about her safety. “What were you thinking?!” Labret was quickly scolded by her mother, but Labret could tell that she was relieved.
“I’m okay mom! Gilder helped me” Labret finally said, cutting off her mother’s worried rant about her safety.
Lolita looked up, examining the direction her daughter had appeared from. “Gil..der? Honny, who’s that?”
Labret looked at her mother, confused, before turning around. He was gone, all that could be seen was the forest-line. Labret frowned, utterly and completely confused. Surely she hadn’t imagined the tall Sima, had she?
********
The next time Labret ran into Gilder was years later when she was in her early teens. The meeting, although unexpected, was more of a disappointment than Labret realized she wished it to be.
Labret had been minding her own business, making her way down the busy inner streets of the city. Her twin sister was doing one of her poetry things with her friends again, and although Labret would on occasion support her by going to the meetings, she just didn’t feel like it tonight. But, the night seemed dull. There was nothing for her to do, but she knew she didn’t want to go home.
She turned down one of the less crowded streets, her gaze fixed up at the sky. There were barely any stars, even though it was late into the night. But that’s how it typically was in the city. She briefly wondered if her parents were worried, having their young twins out alone in the middle of the night. Of course, the thought was fleeting.
“Urk” A groan from below her booted foot caught her attention, and she was sure she had stepped one something much softer than the sidewalk. Peering down, she quickly realized she had stepped on… someone’s face? What?
She immediately removed her boot, finding it had been covering a slightly familiar façade. Why did they seem so familiar? Labret knew she had seen those scars before….
“Ughn…” the male Sima groaned out once more as Labret took in their immediate surroundings. They were right outside of a bar, so she could assume he was passed out drunk. Labret knelt down beside the unconscious form, giving his cheek a poke and smoothing their long hair away from their face. A memory flashed before her eyes from years ago, when she was still a young kit. She was lost in a forest, and this had been the Sima that had saved her.
“Gilder?” Labret asked, fairly certain that the older male couldn’t hear her.
“Mmn… Sweetheart?” Labret frowned, swiftly grabbing onto the male’s ear and giving it a harsh twist.
“Call me that again, and I’ll drag you into the street to be run over” the young teen warned, but Gilder was silent. A snore escaped his slightly parted maw and Labret had to force herself to keep from punching his unconscious form.
Minutes passed in silence before Labret sighed in resignation. She pulled Gilder’s limp form up into a sitting position, leaning him against the wall of the bar. At least this way he wouldn’t be stepped on again… maybe.
She wiped her hands clean on her clothes before continuing her way down the street, only sparing the sleeping Sima a fleeting glance before turning down another street.
********
Years passed, Labret was in her late teens and nearly an adult now. She hadn’t seen Gilder again since the night she found him passed out, but she hadn’t given him much thought over the years in any case.
But that was neither here nor now. She had plans to spend the night on the town with her twin sister Lillian, and irrelevant memories of the past would not interfere.
The night had been going well, and it was already into the early hours of the morning when it began to turn sour. “Yoohoo~ Pretty ladies!” a drunken holler from down the street caught their attention. Labret was held back by her twin, but oh how badly she wanted to pummel the drunken fools. Lillian simply pulled her along, hoping that their great night wouldn’t be spoiled over a stupid confrontation.
Labret begrudgingly went along, and the two made their way down the street, turning a corner into a less populated part of the city. Labret immediately felt on edge, knowing that the two of them had just made a mistake.
She could tell, they were being followed. If it had just been one or two Simas the twins could have held their own, but there were at least five. Labret was worried, but she didn’t let it show. “We’re being followed” she whispered quietly to her sister.
“I know” Lillian responded in a hushed tone. Well, at least they were on the same page. But what would they do? Actually, now that she thought about it, she knew this area. It had been a while since Labret had been here, but it was familiar. She grabbed Lillian’s hand, leading her in the direction she thought would bring the two back into a more populated area.
She miscalculated. The twins weren’t quite where Labret had thought. The sisters found themselves at a dead end. Labret frowned, swiftly turning around and hoping they would have the time to go back down the street before they were cornered.
But it was too late, their only exit was blocked by five larger Simas.
Labret growled, finding herself in a fighting stance. Lillian shifted in a similar way, knowing that there was no other option. They were slowly approached and surrounded, the girls shifted so that they were back to back, allowing them to keep their eyes on all of their attackers. Labret knew that they were in a losing situation, but they wouldn’t go down without a fight.
She wasn’t sure who threw the first punch, everything was in a blur. Minutes felt like hours, and Labret knew they were in real trouble when she found herself on the ground, a much larger Sima on top of her, his arm pulled back and ready to land a punch to her unprotected face. She stared down her attacker, knowing what was coming but refusing to back down. Just before the punch landed she was surprised to find a hand holding her attacker’s arm in a firm grasp. Her attacker seemed just as surprised.
“Anyone ever tell ya it’s not okay to hit a lady?” a gruff yet calm voice broke though the sound of chaos, and Labret was surprised to find it was a voice she knew. But who? She couldn’t place it with a face.
The sima atop Labret was flung from her form before her savior went on the offensive. But still, they were outnumbered, and Lillian was having a hard time of it too. Labret quickly jumped up from the ground and went to her twin’s aid, landing on one of the attackers and knocking him to the ground.
The fight continued to heat up, and once again everything seemed to go by in a blur. But in the end, only three were left standing, Labret, Lillian, and the stranger that had saved them. The stranger turned to face the twins, a smile gracing his features and his arm raised in a wave. “Hey sweetheart.”
Labret frowned, and she was very close to landing a punch of her very own right in the middle of Gilder’s face. But she stopped, startled when the large male began to slump over, clutching his side.
’Oh’ Labret thought, realizing that Gilder’s shirt had a tear in it, and was that blood? He had been hurt. Badly, by the amount he was losing. Probably stabbed.
“Gil…der?” Labret asked nervously, reaching out for him.
“Gilder?” Lillian asked, her tone one of that of astonishment. “You mean, like, your imaginary friend Gilder from when we were kids?”
Labret huffed turning a glare towards her twin, “How many times have I told you, I didn’t make him up” she snapped, before shooting Lillian an apologetic glance. She had no right to snap at her, the two had been through enough that night. “Sorry” Labret apologized to her before standing beside Gilder, lifting his arm around her shoulders to help support him. “Help me, please?” she asked Lillian, her eyes pleading.
Lillian had never seen her sister like that. Vulnerable. Lillian quickly nodded, standing to support Gilder’s other side.
“Where are we going?” Lillian asked, but Labret had no clue how to answer.
“Z’s” Gilder grunted out, but his voice was losing strength. Lillian looked to Labret curiously, but Labret was caught in thought. After a few seconds she remembered that Z’s was the bar she had found Gilder passed out in front of years ago.
“This way” she instructed, steadying Gilder’s body with the help of her sister as they made their way down the street. Some very long minutes later they were almost there, and Labret felt Gilder start to stir.
“Turn down the alley next to the bar” he instructed weakly, and the girls complied. They found themselves at a back entrance to the bar, accessible by employees only. Gilder lifted his fist to the door, giving it a coded knock. Moments later the door swung open. “What part of employees on—oh dear…” the Sima that had opened the door started off in a reprimanding tone, as if he knew who was in the other side, but he was caught off guard at way was before him.
“Bring him in, set him down in that chair” the Sima pointed out a vacant chair that looked well used, next to a table that was mostly barren. This was probably a break-room of sorts, Labret realized as she set Gilder in the chair. “I’ll get Keit…” the unfamiliar Sima said as he left out another door.
What felt like hours later, but was truly only minutes, another Sima walked through the door that the other had left from. Labret assumed this was ‘Keit.’
“What did you get yourself into this time?” the unfamiliar Sima asked, and Labret realized he was dressed like a bartender. Well, that made sense, considering where they were. Keit’s eyes landed on the two girls and he smiled. “Thanks for bringing him back to me, ladies,” he said with a polite tilt to his head, “I can take it from here.”
Keit went to fish out a well-used first aid kit and Labret felt a light tug on her arm. It was Lillian.
She glanced at her sister before her gaze fell onto Gilder once more. “Cover for me, ‘kay? I’ll be home late” she finally said, Lillian seemed to be quite surprised by her twin’s words.
But she smiled and responded with a laugh, “Don’t you mean early? It’s nearly two in the morning.”
Labret couldn’t help but chuckle as well as she turned to her sister. “Stay in the lighted areas, and be careful, okay?” Lillian nodded. “I’ll be home soon” she continued as Lillian left through the door they had come through.
“Well, if you’re gonna stick around, you might as well help me out with this useless oaf” Keit’s voice startled Labret, she had nearly forgot he was there. She turned to the young male and her eyes landed on the opened first aid kit. Keit was in the process of removing Gilder’s coat. He flung the article of clothing to the floor and began to cut away Gilder’s blood stained shirt with a pair of bandage scissors.
Labret reached for the first aid kit, pulling out the gauze and antiseptic. She poured the liquid onto one the gauze patches before handing it to Keit, who applied it to Gilder’s wound. The two worked in silence for nearly an hour as they patched the larger male up.
Labret had finally made it home around three-thirty in the morning. She snuck in through the window of the room she shared with her sister and quietly crawled into bed.
Days later Labret found herself in front of an apartment building in the less-desirable part of the city. But this was the address that Keit had messily scrawled on a scrap of paper for her.
She punched the designated number into the call box and seconds later it crackled to life. “Yo?” Keit’s voice called out from the box, heavy with static.
“It’s Labret” she answered curtly, and the door to the building unlocked with a buzz.
She opened the door and hopped into the elevator, heading to the room number that had been given to her previously. She went to knock on the door, only to find it ajar. She pushed it open, looking around warily.
She immediately spotted Gilder lying on a well-used couch, his eyes fixed on a television. “Hey, sweetheart” He called out from the couch, his arm raised in a lazy wave. Labret felt anger bubble within her as she approached the male. She cracked her knuckles before landing a well-aimed punch for his nose. “Oomf!” Gilder cried out in pain, clutching his nose. “Ughn… violent girls aren’t cute at all” he mumbled, and Labret nearly nailed him with another punch.
But she was stopped by the voice of another.
“Labret,” she turned to face Keit, her expression one of annoyance. “Do you like pancakes?”
********
Since then, Labret has become close friends with both Gilder and Keit. She can easily say that the two males have become her best friends. She sees the two often, and more often than not she is the one who makes sure Gilder gets home safely when he is in a drunken stupor.
No, Labret could not see a life without her two idiotic best friends.
